Pebble Watch Phasing Out

If you are one of the original Pebble watch users you may be sad to find out that the company was bought out by Fitbit and now the watch has been phased out.   But on the other hand, the transition to the Fitbit company means that you can now get more bang for your buck.  Now you have a fitness tracker and smartwatch all rolled into one.    It was years ago that I purchased my first Pebble, and it was exciting times.   The smartwatch was just becoming popular and it was beyond cool to get notifications on your watch and be able to send simple responses as well.   It was also cool to have a Fitbit and track my steps and enter my calorie consumption through the Fitbit application.   I also thought to myself that it would be cool to have all the features of the Fitbit and the Pebble watch fused in one.

The folks and Fitbit must have thought the same thing too when they bought the Pebble company.   Although you should not expect updates for the Pebble watch, the company did change it software so that wearers of the Pebble watch do not need to be authenticated to have the watch be functional.  The app developers were also asked to change that code in their software so that user authentication was not a requirement.  This way, when the Pebble servers are now defunct, the Pebble will still run.

If you want to take the chance, you can now buy a Pebble watch online from stores like Amazon for hugely discounted prices.
